Pallet Racking for Polish Warehouses
ApexBeam supplies industrial pallet racking to Polish warehouse operators, logistics integrators and 3PL providers, engineered to EN 15512 — adopted in Poland as PN-EN 15512 — and verified against the specific snow, wind and pallet geometry of your site. All 14 system types are available, produced at audited partner plants under our QC and traceability protocol, with standard products typically shipping 20–30 days after order confirmation.
What Polish Projects Actually Require
Poland is one of Europe's densest warehouse markets, and its engineering profile differs from both Western Europe and North America in three specific ways that affect rack design.
Snow load governs rack-supported buildings. Where the racking itself carries roof and wall cladding — a rack-supported building — the structure must resist snow loads determined under EN 1991-1-3 with the Polish National Annex. Poland is divided into snow load zones, and sites in the southern mountainous regions carry substantially higher ground snow values than the central lowlands. A rack-clad building designed without the correct national annex values will be under-designed for its location, regardless of how well the rack itself performs. We coordinate roof and wall load transfer with the rack model in a single structural calculation rather than treating the building envelope as a separate exercise.
Seismic demand is generally low — but not universally. Most of Poland sits in a low-seismicity zone, so seismic design rarely governs rack sizing. Two exceptions matter. In the Carpathian region, national annex values differ from the lowland default. In Upper Silesia, mining-induced ground motion can be a design consideration for tall installations, and where a site has documented tremor history we raise it explicitly and verify against EN 16681 and FEM 10.2.08 as applicable. If your site has a ground-motion assessment from your structural engineer, send it with your enquiry and we will incorporate it.
The EUR pallet drives geometry. The EUR pallet (1,200 × 800 mm) dominates Polish warehousing, which changes beam length, frame depth and aisle width assumptions compared with markets using 1,200 × 1,000 mm or North American pallets. Because the EUR pallet is shallower, drive-in and push-back lane depths can be increased within the same building footprint, and VNA aisle widths sit at the narrower end of their practical range. We size beams and frames from your actual pallet dimensions and weights rather than applying a generic European default.
Applicable Standards
| Standard | What It Covers | How We Apply It |
|---|---|---|
| EN 15512 (PN-EN 15512) | Structural design of adjustable pallet racking | Primary design basis; our adjustable pallet racking is independently attested to EN 15512:2020+A1:2022 by UDEM (Cert. M.2023.206.C82720, valid to 13 March 2028) |

| FEM 10.2.02 / 10.2.03 | Static racking design; rack-supported buildings | Used for rack-clad structures where the racking carries building envelope loads |
| EN 1991-1-3 + Polish NA | Snow loads | Applied to rack-supported buildings; zone-specific ground snow values per site location |
| EN 16681 / FEM 10.2.08 | Seismic design of steel storage racking | Applied where site conditions or client specification require seismic verification |
Our adjustable pallet racking is independently attested to EN 15512:2020+A1:2022 by UDEM (Cert. M.2023.206.C82720, valid to 13 March 2028). This is third-party attestation of structural design verification, not a self-declaration.
Systems Most Often Specified
| System | Why It Fits Polish Operations | Key Parameters |
|---|---|---|
| Selective Pallet Rack | The default for mixed-SKU 3PL and e-commerce sites; 100% direct access supports multi-client separation | Load per level up to 3,000 kg (UDL) · Frames to 18 m · Beam length 1,500–3,600 mm |
| VNA Racking | High land cost in Warsaw, Poznań and Wrocław logistics corridors justifies narrow-aisle density | 1,000–2,000 kg per position · Up to 15–17 m · Aisles 1,600–2,000 mm |
| Drive-In Rack | Bulk food, beverage and seasonal stock; EUR pallet depth allows deeper lanes per building metre | 500–1,500 kg/pallet · 2–10 pallets deep · Up to 10 m |
| Mobile Rack | Highest floor-area efficiency where refrigerated volume or land cost dominates | 500–2,000 kg/level · 10–12 m · One moving aisle |
| Rack Supported Building | One integrated structure instead of building plus racks — relevant where snow load design is coordinated early | 500–2,000 kg/position · 37 m delivered |
Specifications are standard configuration ranges for preliminary selection; final values are confirmed by engineered calculation and drawings for each project.
Finish and Corrosion Selection
Central European conditions are milder than coastal or freezer environments, but two cases need explicit specification. For cold storage and chilled distribution — a significant share of Polish food export logistics — steel grade and impact toughness must be selected for the operating temperature; we supply Q235D or Q355D for sub-zero service, with mill test certificates traceable per coil batch. For unheated or semi-open structures, condensation cycling warrants hot-dip galvanizing or a zinc-rich primer plus topcoat system rather than standard powder coating alone. Ambient dry warehouses inside insulated envelope buildings are well served by powder coating with RAL colour to client specification.
Standard grades across the range are Q235B, Q235D, Q355B and Q355D, with Q460C available for high-load applications. Every coil carries a mill test certificate traceable to its production batch.
Logistics to Poland
Ocean freight reaches the Baltic ports of Gdańsk and Gdynia; rail routing via Central European intermodal terminals is an alternative for inland sites, particularly in Silesia and around Łódź and Poznań. Whichever routing you use, we produce a container loading plan that optimizes stowage to reduce freight cost per pallet position, and we sequence multi-container shipments to match your installation timeline so components arrive in erection order rather than at random.
Documentation travelling with every shipment includes engineered layout drawings, the structural calculation report, installation manual with torque specifications and anchor patterns, rated load notices per rack section, and mill test certificates available for review. Third-party inspection can be arranged at raw material receipt, in-process, or pre-shipment, and we coordinate agency access and provide all supporting documentation.

FAQ
Do your racks comply with Polish standards?
Our adjustable pallet racking is independently attested to EN 15512:2020+A1:2022 by UDEM (Cert. M.2023.206.C82720, valid to 13 March 2028). EN 15512 is adopted in Poland as PN-EN 15512, and we design to the code set applicable at your site. Load notices and inspection documentation consistent with EN 15635 ship with every installation.
Can you design a rack-supported building for Polish snow loads?
Yes. Where the racking carries roof and wall cladding, we model storage loads and building envelope loads in a single structural calculation and apply snow loads per EN 1991-1-3 with the Polish National Annex values for your site's snow zone. Send your site location, roof geometry and any wind or snow data from your structural engineer.
What information do you need to quote a project in Poland?
Warehouse drawings or dimensions including clear height and column positions, pallet size and weight per loaded pallet (state whether EUR 1,200 × 800 mm or other), SKU count and turnover rules, forklift type, and any seismic or snow-load assessment you already hold. From that we produce a layout drawing and load calculation. Standard products typically ship 20–30 days after order confirmation.
Is third-party inspection available before shipment?
Yes. Independent inspection agencies can be engaged at raw material receipt, in-process, or pre-shipment stages. We coordinate agency access, provide all documentation, and incorporate findings into the final QC file. See our services for the full checkpoint list.
